As COVID vaccine shipments were being scheduled for delivery to the Kansas City area, a local health department had an urgent need to procure backup generators to support their vaccine freezer storage in the event of a power outage.
Time and delivery were critical factors to complete the generator commissioning before the delivery of the vaccines, which require cold storage to maintain potency and protection. With an urgent deadline approaching, Clifford Power and Generac Industrial Energy worked together to quickly locate three diesel generators in excess factory inventory that matched the equipment need. These generator systems were designed with small footprints, also known as a “cube” design, which is commonly used for telecommunications sites. The generator kW size and footprint were a great fit for the health department’s power application as well as their available space for installation at the facilities.
Through this expedited and coordinated effort to source the equipment, the generators were on a flatbed truck and in-transit to the customer within a couple of days. Shortly after arrival onsite, the units were installed and fully commissioned for backup power at the storage facilities.
During a time when delays with manufacturing, shipping, and other supply chain resources seemed to be unavoidable due to issues stemming from COVID, Clifford Power was able to get the generators ordered, shipped, delivered, and commissioned within a very short time to support a critical power need within the community.
