Constructed in 1919, the historic Sinclair Building in downtown Tulsa was recently renovated and converted to apartments and commercial space.
Clifford Power worked with the design team to size the emergency power system:
- Generac Industrial Energy 250-kilowatt generator, powered by natural gas
- Two Generac Automatic Transfer Switches
The downtown delivery location required permitting and scheduled street closure to off-load and lift the generator onto the building’s rooftop. With a limited window of time for street closure, the delivery of the generator needed to be precise to avoid delays and to help ensure the project would run smoothly. Our project management team worked closely with the freight company to ensure the generator would arrive on schedule.
The location where the generator needed to be placed for permanent installation required the crane to lift the generator over an eight-story building and lower it onto the rooftop structure behind it. Once the generator was onsite, the crane crew secured the rigging and lifted the generator into place.
This generator is equipped with a sound attenuated enclosure to reduce noise levels during operation. The system is also designed with three circuit breakers to separate loads for emergency, life safety, and elevators. Two of the breakers will feed the automatic transfer switches, while the third breaker will feed the building’s fire pump.
